Patient Info
Our Practice in 28 Beaumont Street welcomes overseas patients, but there are a few steps that need to be followed, depending on the reason for your visit and the duration of your stay.
Non-UK residents are welcome to book an appointment with our doctors and nurses (a fee will apply if you are not entitled to NHS treatment). Call us on +44 (0)1865 311811 for more details.
There is a reduced rate available for students studying with many educational programmes and private colleges; costs will need to be paid at the time of appointment. Unfortunately, overseas students can only pay for their appointment in cash.
It is also possible that you will be eligible for NHS treatment, or that your treatment will be covered by your travel insurance. We advise that you check your individual healthcare situation prior to travel, and to take out any insurance that may be required.
If you need more help, Oxford University’s website contains an information page for overseas visitors.
You will be entitled to NHS treatment if you are enrolled for six months or more, and register with the Practice as soon as possible after arriving; waiting to register may mean you fail to qualify for NHS treatment.
The same rules apply for any dependants, provided they are also staying for six months or more.
We also advise you to consider medical insurance as your healthcare expectations may differ from the service offered by the NHS.
In order to qualify for emergency treatment free of charge, EU / EEA nationals must produce their E106 card and proof of ID.
We can only offer treatment for minor emergency ailments, and cannot treat existing conditions - get in touch to find out if your situation qualifies.
