Access and facilities for Disabled People
Help for non-English speakers or those with language needs
Although our historical building was not originally designed for disabled access, we are keen to make your visit as pleasant and convenient as possible. We have made a number of modifications to our building to assist people with disabilities and mobility problems. Please contact us on 01865 311811 to discuss your needs.
There are a number of public disabled-badge parking spaces on Beaumont Street, opposite to the Practice. There are also public pay-and-display spaces along the length of the street. These spaces are in high demand at peak times.
There is a small private car park at the back of the building, accessible via St John Street (the turning is half-way down Beaumont Street). This car park may be used by disabled patients by prior arrangement. Please ask the receptionist about this when booking your appointment.
Access to the front of the building is via three stone steps. There is a stair rail. Seats are provided in the Reception area.
If you are unable to climb stairs or use a wheelchair, you can gain access to the Practice via the back of the building where there is a ramp.
The back of the building is accessed via St John Street, off Beaumont Street. Click here for a map. Please ring the doorbell if you require any assistance and our staff will attend to you.
We have a Ground Floor consulting and treatment room for those who are unable to access the first-floor or basement levels.
Please inform reception if you feel you will be unable to safely climb at least one flight of stairs.
Toilets are provided on the first floor and basement levels. A portable toilet for disabled people is available on the ground floor if required. Please feel free to ask a member of staff if you require this facility.
Patients with mobility problems or disabilities who are unable to visit us at the surgery can request a home visit by calling us on 01865 311811.
Dr John Sichel speaks French and German. Dr Sri speaks Tamil. We use Language Line (a telephone translation service) for other languages.
Language Line can provide a translator to attend the surgery in person if sufficient notice is given - please call us on 01865 311811 to request this service.
